The Build Team has been working on the robot for the Providence Bruins game. They have mounted the motors for shooting the hockey pucks and the wheels. They have also attached the wood, and had a goal to finish adding the pneumatic components.
The Programming Team has been working on training new members in using C++.
The group creating the bracket for the video game tournament has a tentative bracket system. This will need to be compared to the tournament set up and the bracket will be finalized.
The group determining the rules for the video game tournament have finished setting up these rules.
These are the rules that were established for the tournament:
*There will be 3 controller types used: Wii Remote, Wii Remote and Nunchuk, and GameCube Controllers. These will be standard issue, unmodified, and provided by the team.
*User Profiles will be allowed so players who want to change their controls (i.e. disable tap jump, change the button used for basic attacks from A to B, etc) can if they want. If a player is going to create a profile, they must show up to the tournament during the set up period in order to save their profile on all 4 Wii consoles.
*All characters will be unlocked; however, Meta Knight will be banned from the tournament.
*A player can/will be dismissed from the tournament for unsportsmanlike behavior.
*The preliminary matches will run as follows:
--Each match will be a 3-minute 4 player free-for-all
--A set list of maps will be used. The list includes: Battlefield, Final Destination, Delfino Plaza, Onett, Castle Siege, Lylat Cruise, Pokemon Stadium 1, Pokemon Stadium 2, Halberd, Smashville, Brinstar, and Yoshi's Island. A stage will be chosen at random each match.
--All items will be allowed, with the exceptions of the Time, Dragoon Pieces, Smart Bombs, and Bob-ombs. The item frequency will be set to medium.
*The Quarterfinals and/or Semifinals will run as follows:
--Each match will be a 1 vs 1 stock match, with each player having 3 lives. There will be an 8 minute time limit.
--A reduced list of maps will be used. This list includes: Final Destination, Delfino Plaza, Lylat Cruise, and Smashville. A stage will be chosen at random each match.
--No items will be allowed.
*The Finals will run as follows:
--Each match will be a 1 vs 1 stock match, with each player having 3 lives. There will be no time limit.
--Three matches will be played. The player to win 2 out of the 3 wins.
--The map that will be used is Final Destination.
--No items will be allowed.
For your information, there are several things that need to be done before the tournament besides setting up the Wii consoles, projectors, and screens. We will also need to: make sure every console has a file of the game with all of the characters unlocked, limit the maps and items that can be used, and disable the ability to pause the game. In addition to this, we will need to allow those players that arrive early to set up their profiles to do so.
